A new Ashley HomeStore in the Bronx brought the beauty and culture of the borough’s exterior inside with graffiti. Prominent graffiti artist KEO, a local favorite in New York, gave the HomeStore entrance the ultimate dress-up – and we’re excited to share it with all of you!
A HomeStore Entryway to Remember
The mural was crafted in the opening hallway of the HomeStore and was designed to give visitors a colorful welcome whenever they visit. Displaying the cornerstones of the Bronx, including Yankee Stadium and a traveling subway, it’s meant to tie the store to the greater community and show Bronx residents that Ashley plans on joining the community rather than just doing business with it.
Rich with the culture of the borough, this piece’s energy and aesthetic was merged with the hallmarks of the Ashley brand, including our orange door. Together, it makes a showstopping mural that forever integrates the HomeStore and the greater community in the Bronx.\

For this week’s This is Home: Nashville, we present Dan Smyers of Dan + Shay who shows us his upstairs den and what makes it truly feel like home for him, his wife Abby and their three dogs.
Dan + Shay are a Grammy-winning duo whose self-titled third studio album charted the same week that their lead single “Tequila” reached number one on the Country Airplay chart. Their previous Platinum-certified single “Speechless” held four weeks atop the country radio charts as well as a nine-week run on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Let’s dive into the den:
Dan + Abby’s Upstairs Den
Dan was pumped to show us the upstairs den. Deemed the in-between spot from the guest rooms and the rest of the house, he summed up the area, which boasts neutral tones, extra grainy wood and feel-good textures as such: “This is a cool space for us to just come home from the road and relax.” The married couple also enjoy quality time here with the dogs. According to Dan, their furry companions “make themselves very at home on the furniture which we’re A-okay with in this house.”
With a cozy chaise sectional, sprawling out after a long tour on the road is effortless. Plus, with an assortment of eye-catching accessories, including uniquely crafted vases and a patterned rug, the den has been transformed into a lively area everyone can enjoy.
One decor set that inspired the two were snippets of paper hung with 8 picture frames. Upon closer inspection, Dan gave us the story of where these originated—it was during the week leading up to the Grammys in Los Angeles. There were tearaway messages available to take home and Abby grabbed some and eventually hung them up. On these tearaway papers were words and poems—such as willpower and strength. These messages function as a source of inspiration for Dan and Abby as well as a cherished memory.

It’s time for the newest installment of our This is Home: Nashville series. Today, we get an exclusive look inside Chris Janson’s home and how his day-to-day life inspired the light, neutral palette of his living space.
Chris Janson is a platinum-selling, award-winning singer and songwriter as well as the youngest living member of the Grand Ole Opry. His CMA-nominated song “Drunk Girl,” has been called “the most important song to come out of Nashville in years.” Touted as the “future of country music” by Nashville Gab, his two full-length albums have been wildly successful, which is a testament to his “explosive” stage style—creating a unique live experience for all his fans.
Let’s get right into the tour:
Chris Janson’s Room Tour
We were very excited to be the first to see Chris’s living room space and share it with all of you! Chris’s wife Kelly told us about the inspiration behind their den: “… we did neutral floors… when we bought this house we wanted something open where the kids could play, where we could all relax and enjoy ourselves.”
The big sectional, pillows and throws make it a comfortable, livable place for their family, while the light and creamy color palette keeps everything spacious and pleasing to the eyes. Since Chris wrestles with his kids all the time, it’s an ideal seating spot with plenty of space for horseplay.
He explained although it’s not exactly a “dude-ish” space, when he’s not out making a fire enjoying the outdoors, he loves hanging out watching TV in the living room—something we can all definitely relate to!
An Exclusive Jam Session
Before our tour was over, we got to see Chris perform his new song, “Good Vibes.” One thing’s for sure—we certainly felt the positivity from Chris flanked between two cozy chairs and a gorgeous windowscape.
Welcome to another episode of This is Home: Nashville. This week, we’re featuring Cale Dodds!
Singer-songwriter, Cale Dodds, has been named in Rolling Stone’s “New Country Artists You Need To Know.” Billboard and Rolling Stone both named Dodds’ 2018 CMA Fest performance as one of the best things they saw from the four-day music festival.
In October 2018, Cale Dodds released his new song, “What We Gonna Do About It;” which is the song he sang in the jam session portion of our This is Home video!
Cale Dodds Bedroom Tour
When Cale first moved to Nashville, he was living in a garage with a small twin bed. Cale joked that there were, “…two small rats named Pete in the corner.” He said that he likes to remember that space whenever he’s in his newly furnished master bedroom to remind him of how things have gotten better.
Cale showed us some amazing original Elvis Presley records that his grandmother got when she went to an Elvis show in high school. The records were a gift to Cale one Christmas. On that same wall he showed us other records that are important to him, such as the first country song he’s ever heard and the first vinyl he has ever received.
Cale Dodds Living Room Tour
A versatile room for Cale is the living room which also doubles as the rehearsal and work out room. Cale told us that he hosts his writing sessions on the sofas in the living room, but also rehearses with his band in that room before going on tour.
One of the centerpieces of the living room is an old radio that Cale’s dad used to listen to in college. He says it was, “the first radio that they grew up listening to country music on.”

We’re all about celebrating homes so we decided to design rooms for some of today’s top country artist. In our This Is Home series, you’ll get to see these rooms and learn why they mean so much to the artists. Our first stop: the home of Michael Ray.
We recently visited L.A. to get Weird––Creatively Weird that is. We partnered with interior designer and YouTuber, Mr. Kate, to challenge two #CreativeWeirdos to design a plain white room using all Ashley HomeStore products.
Our collaboration with blogger and influencer Kathleen Post all started when she was looking to furnish and decorate her new space. Jumping at the opportunity to collaborate with the Lemon Blonde creator, we got to work right away. Check it out here!
